048 The KISS Diet
Cirencester Personal Trainer.
Firstly what does KISS stand for, Keep It Simple Stupid, and secondly lets look at what all major diets have in common:
5:2 - puts you in a calorie deficit
Paleo - puts you in a calorie deficit
Zone - puts you in a calorie deficit
Cambridge - puts you in a calorie deficit
Weight Watchers - puts you in a calorie deficit
Slimming World - puts you in a calorie deficit
Are you getting the point here?
Now lets give you a basic understanding of what each macronutrient is used for within the body:
Protein
Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues. You also use protein to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood.
Fat
Fat also helps you absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K, the so-called fat-soluble vitamins. Fat also fills your fat cells and insulates your body to help keep you warm. The fats your body gets from your food give your body essential fatty acids called linoleic and linolenic acid.
Carbohydrate
Carbohydrates provide your body with energy. The simplest are sugars, like glucose, fructose, sucrose and lactose. Complex carbohydrates, like starch, are made up of lots of sugar molecules joined together. The 'identity tags' (antigens) on the surface of all cells are made from carbohydrates joined to proteins.
So taking all of the above into account the 'KISS Diet' is extremely easy to follow, be sure to consume all macronutrients, increase your carbohydrate intake only on high energy expending days and try to keep these to good quality foods (Keep It Simple Stupid - we all know what’s healthy and what’s not) and if your main goal is to drop some weight be sure to reduce your calorie intake. Simple.
Enjoy.
